Interview with Charles Noll, manager and father of the proprietor:

1. How long have you been in business on Linden Ave.?

We've been in business 10 years but moved to our present location three years ago.

2. How did the business get started?

I had the idea back in the '50's, when I saw the doctors weren't helping my son get well. The lady across the street gave me a copy of Adelle Davis' book and I found help for all of our symptoms there. I took some nutrition classes and used the knowledge on my family. I wanted to start a health food store then but couldn't afford the inventory. I started a bicycle shop in Carpinteria instead.

3. What type of customers do you serve?

People like to come here to a smaller store with personal service. We do a lot of special orders. People find things here that they can't find in other stores. Tourists in Carpinteria find items here and then continue to order them from us and have them shipped to them at their homes.

Many senior citizens are grateful to have a local store here in Carpinteria so they don't have to travel to Santa Barbara for items they need.
