Blum & Sons Electric

We visited Blum & Sons Electric to learn about their business. While we were there we learned a bit of the history of electricity from the founder of the business, Josef Blum Sr. Mr. Blum discussed how usually when we think of electricity, we think of Thomas Edison. He reviewed with us many other important names in electricity like Watson, Ohm, Volta and Ampere. All the important terms in electricity, like watts and voltage came from these names.

Josef Blum has been in Carpinteria since 1972. There are three sons Wally, John and Josef Jr. Two students in our class have relatives at Blum & Sons. Deanna’s aunt is married to Joe Jr. Steven’s dad is Wally.

Blum & Sons Electric installs everything that has to do with electricity from wiring to hardware. They have even done some work for Kenny Loggins. They also install cable lines and wiring for computer systems. They have a special truck for reaching lights and electrical equipment in high places. They even let us climb aboard to have our picture taken with Wally.
