Shangri-La Restaurant
The Shangri-La Restaurant is a brand new business on Linden Ave. It opened in August 2000 and it replaces the Nine Dragons Restaurant that was in the same location. The owner, Joanne Hsiang-lan Hsian, also has Restaurants in Northern California. One is the China Room in Santa Rosa and the other Green Valley Organics near the San Francisco Airport.
The Shangri-La specializes in organic green vegetables and free-range chicken, "We use pesticide free vegetables, cold pressed virgin olive oil and other fine ingredients to support optimum health and a harmonious environment." Says the owner, Joanne Hsiang-Ian Hsian. The Shangri-La also offers a buffet whose menu is changed daily.
Mission Statement: "The Shangri-La is a storied spiritual haven where youth, beauty, serenity and peace abound. It is a place to rest and to be refreshed, to seek the wisdom of the ancients and to find the hidden wisdom within us all.
We are dreamers with diligent pursuits, mothers with children to raise, youngsters with big hearts to love, ...who choose to use pesticide free vegetables and free range chicken to support an harmonious environment. We cook with good wishes to health, happiness, and gratefulness. We don't use MSG, food color, food preservatives, or any harmful ingredients in our cooking."
The artist James Taylor designed their logo.
