Prufrock's Garden Inn by the Beach
The owners of Prufrock's Garden Inn are Mr. & Mrs. Halvorsen (Judy and Jim). Mr. Halvorsen came to visit us in our classroom at
Main Elementary School. He told us all about the history of the house that is now a
beautiful Bed and Breakfast. He also told us that he and his wife used to be teachers and
that they like to be involved in the schools of Carpinteria.
When he asked us what a Bed
and Breakfast was one of the students in our class answered "a place where you get
breakfast in bed." Mr. Halvorsen went on to explain to us that Bed and Breakfast Inns
have been around for a very long time. That long ago before there were a lot of hotels or
motels people would open their extra bedrooms up to people who were traveling.

The
Cravens family used to live in the house that is now Prufrocks and it is the oldest building remaining on Linden Ave. It was built in 1904. If you look on their website
(by clicking on the link on the location page) you will find some great pictures of the house and also some information about the Bed and Breakfast and how it looks now. Prufrock's Garden Inn has
been in business on Linden Avenue for 6 years.
